October 18, 2023 MRVED Common Inservice Day

We are looking forward to gathering at the Dawson-Boyd Schools for another great day of professional development on Wednesday, October 18, 2023! 

Registration for the MRVED October 18th Common Inservice needs to be completed by Monday, October 2nd at 4:00 p.m.  The inservice will be held in Dawson at the Dawson-Boyd Schools.  Amber Harper will be the keynote speaker.  The topic of her keynote is "Hacking Teacher Burnout".  

Lunch will be catered by Trish's Katering.  The cost is $12.00 and is to be paid to your district.  The menu will be a chicken breast with white sauce, cheesy hashbrowns, green beans, mixed greens strawberry salad, a bar, and lemonade.  After Monday, October 2nd, you are responsible for the cost of your meal, you are NOT able to cancel it. 

 

The schedule for the day is below:

8:00 a.m. - 8:35 a.m. : Registration and Breakfast

8:40 a.m. - 9:40 a.m. : Keynote Speaker, Amber Harper - Hacking Teacher Burnout

9:45 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. : Professional WIN Time

10:20 a.m. - 11:20 a.m. : Collaborative Discussion by Years of Experience

11:30 a.m. - 12:20 p.m. : Lunch (Catered by Trish Kruger)

12:30 p.m. - 1:20 p.m. : Large Group Session (5 Choices)

1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. : Debrief by Principals

 

You will be receiving more information from your principals and TAC representatives, but below is a brief summary of the "Professional WIN Time".  

WIN Time Expectations and Examples

• This time is “What I Need” time. It is for you, as a teacher, to complete what you need.

  • Examples

    • Collaborate with your grade or content team.

    • Collaborate with a like, content/grade level teacher from another district.

    • Get prepared for the next day.

    • Reflect on the keynote.

    • Read a professional book or article.

• Keep it simple! What can you accomplish in 30 minutes?

• If you want to meet with others, pre-plan a meeting place & topic.

• 2nd Floor of the Dawson-Boyd High School will be designated a quiet area, please avoid this area if you are collaborating with others.

Approximately one week prior to the inservice, registrants will receive an email with detailed information regarding the inservice day.  An agenda will also be distributed when you arrive at the Dawson-Boyd School, along with your name tag and lunch ticket, if applicable.
