MRVED teachers and paraprofessionals are invited to attend one of four math sessions at the MRVED conference center in October.
• Oct. 1: Number Sense for K-2 Classrooms - Instructor Barb Abramson
• Oct: 2: Number Sense for Grade 3-5 Classrooms - Instructor Barb Abramson
• Oct. 5: Hands on Math for Real World Learning - Instructor Tom Muchlinski. This session is for teachers who use mathematics in their content area but are not math teachers.
• Oct. 6: Helping Students Understand and Apply Algebra - Instructor Tom Muchlinski
Barb Abramson taught elementary math for 33 years in Wayzata and is currently a Cognitively Guided Instruction presenter. She also works with the MN Council of Teachers of Mathematics providing professional development training to Minnesota schools.
Tom Muchlinski is currently a Teaching Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Minnesota and a former Math Specialist for the MDE. He also serves as the Executive Director of the MN Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
