MELT - A DAY OF LEARNING AND SHARING!

On January 18, 2010, over 300 teachers and administrators from MRVED districts gathered at Montevideo Senior High School for a day of professional development. Breakout sessions included Content Area Reading strategies, learning to use math manipulatives, grant writing, integrating technology, using games to teach math, using Moodle, second language acquisition, using data to increase student learning, virtual field trips and supporting children in families of deployed soldiers. Educators also had time to meet in grade level or content areas to share best practices in teaching.
This year a vendor fair was added to the agenda. Textbook representatives set up displays of books and teaching tools and were available to answer questions and talk about new approaches to teaching content. There were also two colleges represented at the fair. Take a look at the slide show to get the true flavor of the day.
