SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICES (SES)

June 23, 2009

The Minnesota River Valley Education District (MRVED) has been approved by the Minnesota Department of Education as a Supplemental Educational Services Provider (SES) from 2009 to 2012.  Supplemental Educational Services provide additional academic instruction, such as tutoring, to increase student achievement.  Under provisions of the No Child Left Behind Act, a school district with a school identified as needing improvement for three consecutive years is required to offer SES to eligible students attending the school.

Under the MRVED program, PrairieLand Academic Network (PLAN), students in grades K-6 from low income families will receive individual or small group instruction in reading, mathematics, and language arts.  Students will attend 90 minute sessions after school twice a week for 8-10 weeks.  Instruction will be delivered at the participating school site.
